LGBTQIA+ Doula
At Roses & Lavender Doula I am here to support and encourage my LGBTQIA+ community while they go through pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. As a transmasculine, LGBTQIA+ birth and postpartum doula, I believe that birth is a normal inclusive process. Your birth matters, for you, your babe, your birth team and chosen family. Birthing people have the right to evidence based practices and the right to informed consent if any interventions are needed. Above all, you deserve respect and care.
This journey will look different for everyone. Remember to be gentle with yourself and remember to rely on others to help get you through. Chosen family is much bigger than we will ever understand. One of my goals is to create a safe and inclusive space that honors and centers queer, trans, disabled, and neurodivergent people. I also aim for an actively anti-racist space for Black, Indigenous, and non-white people.
About Roses & Lavender Doula
My name is Westley, my pronouns are they/them.
I am a transmasc, butch, lesbian and I believe you deserve care just like everyone else. As a Birth and postpartum doula, I am here to support you and your loved ones through this extremely vulnerable time.
I offer labor/birth packages and postpartum packages. I also offer online birth classes so you can take them in the comfort of your own home.
What does a doula do?
Continuous emotional and physical support during all stages of pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum. Doulas also work closely with partners to give the birthing person the optimal support they need and deserve. Doulas do not offer medical care, make any kind of medical decisions, or catch babies. We are here to help you have an informed, loving, and strong birth experience you deserve.
Birth doula
Birth doulas are trained to support the birthing person and their partners through a variety of birthing situations and outcomes. Homes, birth centers, or hospitals, drugs or not a doula is there to support. Getting through labor is a team activity. I will offer encouragement, position changes, and explanations. After your labor and birth we will have a postpartum check-in. I will listen to your birth story, review your birth and answer any questions you may have.
Postpartum doula
With all of the focus on a new baby arrival the postpartum period can be pushed aside and forgotten. Postpartum is a wild time for everyone. A postpartum doula can offer you companionship and nonjudgmental support during your fourth trimester. I can help with newborn care, sibling care, light housekeeping and meal preparations. Postpartum doulas offer evidence based information on emotional and physical recovery from birth and coping skills for new parents.
